Due to the circumstances this semester regarding COVID-19, there are a few changes being made to the calculation of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for undergraduate academic progress. Students will be notified regarding their SAP status on May 8.
These changes are outlined below, and the full details are also published on the Student Services Center website.
Calculation Changes for Spring 2020
The following will NOT be included as “attempted hours” when calculating the 2/3 rule:
1. Hours for term withdrawals that are due to COVID-19
2. Hours for course withdrawals/drops that occurred on or after March 13, 2020
3. Hours for Incomplete (IN) grades for Spring 2020
“U” grades will count as unearned hours in the SAP calculation. In some cases it may be in a student’s best interest to request a late drop instead of keeping the “U” grade. COVID-19 Schedule Revisions initiated after May 8 will trigger a SAP recalculation.
Spring/Summer I SAP and Appeal Timelines
Thursday, May 7: Final Grades are due for Spring 2020 courses
Friday, May 8: SAP is calculated and students who fail SAP standards are notified
Monday, May 11: Deadline to submit an appeal for Summer I
Tuesday, May 12: Summer I appeal notification date; Summer I schedule cancellations for no appeal submitted
